Coaxial RF Cable from Koaxis
Koaxis stocks miles and miles of cable, including our own K-Flex™ line of flexible semi-rigid replacement cable. We offer K-Flex™ cable up to .141" dia, and semi-rigid and hand-formable assemblies up to .250 dia. We also stock a small variety of commonly used Mil-DTL-17 and Times Microwave LMR® flexible cables, up to ~.200” dia, in 50 ohm and 75 ohm for low-cost crimped cable assembly applications.
Koaxis also offer a select set of cable for sale to customers. Semi-rigid cable is offered in 5 ft lengths. Flexible and hand-formable cable is available from an existing inventory of spool sizes. K-Flex™ Coaxial RF Cable
All K-Flex™ cables offer outstanding shielding for improved isolation and are a superior choice for smaller diameter RF cable applications, in which flexibility and/or high-frequency operation are required. K-Flex™ cable is available in .047", .086, and .141" dia cables with a solid PTFE dielectric having a 70% Velocity of Propagation.
Low-loss variants of K-Flex™ are available in .120" dia with a Velocity of Propagation of 77%. K-Flex™ 120 has excellent Phase-tracking v Temperature, DC-40 GHz operation, and is an outstanding choice for Phased-array applications.
Koaxis also offers low-loss and Phase-stable v temperature variants in .047" and .086" dia cables with a Foamed PFA dielectric (a PTFE cousin), 78% Velocity of Propagation, and revolutionary Phase-stability v temperature delivering not only lesser overall Phase-change across its operating temperature, but virtually eliminating the dreaded "Teflon Knee".

Low-loss Coaxial RF Cable
Low-loss RF cables typically utilise a lower density dielectric than their solid dielectric cousins. By introducing air into the dielectric, the resulting Dielectric Constant (K) is lower and the Velocity of Propagation (Vp) is higher. The typical low-loss dialectric materials are Low-density or Expanded PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene aka Teflon®), Foam PFA (perfluoroalkoxy), Foam FEP (fluorinated ethylene propylene), or Foam PE (polyethylene).
These may be a homogeneous dielectric or other constrcution such as tape-wrapped expanded PTFE. With the introduction of air into the dielectric, the resulting construction will be increasingly soft as the Vp increases. Very soft flexible cable constructions may need protective covering or armor to protect from crushing, depending upon your application.

Hand-formable Coaxial RF Cable
Hand-formable is most often understood to be a lower cost Tin-dipped Copper braid cable that is a great choice for prototypes. Although not as durable as a properly designed bent semi-rigid RF cable assembly, this versatile cable can be easily bent by hand without tools and will maintain its basic shape. It is important to note that Tin-dipped Copper braid RF cable will relax over time and with handling.
Despite popular misconception within the community of RF cable assembly users, it is also important to understand that RG401, RG402, and RG405 are NOT synonymous with .250", .141", and .086" dia, respectively, Tin-dipped Copper braid RF cables. Specifically, RG401, RG402, and RG405 are specific Mil-DTL-17 versions of Bare, harder alloy Copper semi-rigid RF cables often used in Military and Aerospace applications.
Additionally, being notoriously difficult to achieve a full and proper coating on the Outer conductor due to poor wetting, hand-formable cable is known for quality issues that result in VSWR spikes at higher frequencies. Consequently, hand-formable RF cable is NOT a good choice for higher frequency applications >18 GHz. A good substitute for Tin-dipped Copper braid cable is Tin-plated Aluminum Semi-rigid. This cable is also hand-formable without tools and offers superior performance for high-frequency applications.

Semi-rigid Coaxial RF Cable
Semi-rigid RF coaxial cable offers the best shielding effectiveness, attenuation, and return loss performance. The semi-rigid seamless outer tube creates a perfect surface to eliminate the risk of RF leakage. Semi-rigid cables have a very smooth outer conductor path that does not contain the small periodic discontinuities found in other cable types from the braiding or foil wrapping process that can cause VSWR spikes.
Aluminium jacketed semi-rigid cables and soft jacketed copper cables can be formed by hand if care is taken to maximize the bend radius of the cable. Koaxis can supply pre-bent semi-rigid cable assemblies made to your specifications. Koaxis is tooled for both low volume, one-off applications using bench top tooling fixtures as well as higher volumes using one of their 3 CNC semi-rigid bending machines.

75 Ohm Coaxial RF Cable
Koaxis stocks a select offering of 75 Ohm RF cable traditionally used in CATV node and infrastructure applications. A weakness in some of these commonly used cables is poor RF shielding. This has resulted in CATV Original Equiment Manufacturers adding ferrites to their RF Cable Assemblies in order to improve isolation. Never one to be satisfied with good enough, Koaxis offers improved cable choices with superior shielding in hand-formable and our own K-Flex™ flexible cable. The resulting improvement in RF shielding is far supierior to the lesser performing offerings from international sources.
