APC's SCIF Design and Consultation Process
APC offer a fully bespoke SCIF design service with full turnkey project delivery from an experienced team. Whilst no two SCIF projects are the same, there are some essential stages our team put in place to ensure we deliver a reliable and robust SCIF solution to our customers. With every secure compartmented information facility manufactured and fulfilled to bespoke customer specifications, we take great care to understand our customers' needs and use our technical insight and strong relationships with our technology partners to overcome any potential issues.
Stage 1 - scoping out
Either by an initial phone call, online meeting, or face-to-face meeting, a member of our team will discuss your requirements with you so we can understand your project requirements. Our technical team will always offer insight and advice based on our wealth of experience delivering SCIF projects for previous customers. At this stage, we will ask broad questions to get an idea of the frequency specifications, size, location, budget, and any internal finishes that may be needed.
Stage 2 - project development
After an initial meeting, our team will discuss your project requirements and begin to think about the materials, technologies and resources required. Further meetings will be scheduled as we develop the project requirements in more detail and begin to think about the layout of your SCIF. These meetings serve as a useful opportunity for customers to consider our approach and ask questions that may emerge or may not have initially been thought about.
Stage 3 - project timings
When the customer is happy with the initial specification of their bespoke SCIF, our project team will then start to develop the project plan. This will typically consist of Gantt charts noting the significant milestones on the project and areas of responsibility. We will also create a detailed project budget that captures the specifications and options discussed in the early stages of the project.
Stage 4 - project drawings
Our team will produce detailed 3D drawings for the customer, capturing the finish and internal fittings discussed. At this point, our project delivery team will work with the customer to finalise the SCIF specification. Only once this has been agreed will we begin to place orders on materials. It is at this point we will also produce manufacturer drawings. These will show the specific container size, internal lining, materials selection, finished floor height, fire alarm points, filter locations etc... They are typically very similar to what you would find from an architecture plan.
Stage 5 - installation
The manufacturer drawings will be used to manufacture the panels, door vents, penetrations and all other structural aspects of the SCIF. Once manufactured to the correct size our appointed installation team will then be in a position to deliver and build the shielded room correctly at your chosen location. Once materials have been ordered, and an installation date scheduled, our team will be on-site to oversee the build and work with the customer to handover and sign off their bespoke SCIF.
Stage 6 - testing
Following installation, our team then carry out RF and acoustic testing on the SCIF. We will take readings at spot frequencies across the full specified range to ensure the SCIF meets the shielding effectiveness requirements defined by the standards or client. A full testing report will be shared with the customer.
