BAL-0003
BAL-0003
Marki Microwave
Broadband Balun (200 kHz - 3 GHz)
An RF/microwave balun (or transformer) is a device that takes an input signal at a given impedance and outputs both the same signal and an inverted version of the signal at a (potentially) different output impedance. They are suitable for applications in differential signaling, integrated circuit testing, and general lab and experimental use.
The main figures of merit for a balun are the amplitude (ideally 0 dB across the band) and phase balance (ideally 0 degrees, meaning perfectly 180 degrees out of phase, across the band).
Marki Microwave's BAL-0003 is a instrumentation grade 50 Ω input: 50 Ω output (100 Ω differential) balun with excellent phase and amplitude match to kHz frequencies. The high power balun variation (the BALH-0003) can be used as either 1:1 or 1:2 transformers (that is either 100 Ω or 50 Ω differential/ 50 Ω or 25 Ω single ended output).
This balun has reduced insertion loss but increased output return loss at the outputs when used in a 50 Ω system. It has a higher power handling capability of up to 10 W.
