BAL-0026
BAL-0026
Marki Microwave
Broadband Isolation Balun (3 MHz - 26.5 GHz)
An RF/microwave balun (or transformer) is a device that takes an input signal at a given impedance and outputs both the same signal and an inverted version of the signal at a (potentially) different output impedance. They are suitable for applications in differential signaling, integrated circuit testing, and general lab and experimental use.
The main figures of merit for a balun are the amplitude (ideally 0 dB across the band) and phase balance (ideally 0 degrees, meaning perfectly 180 degrees out of phase, across the band).
The BAL-0026 is an integrated power divider-inverter balun. This means that it has a Wilkinson power divider on the common port, an inverter before the negative port, and a matched delay line on the positive port. This provides isolation between the differential ports, making these baluns very versatile tools for laboratory use.
Each of these baluns maintains excellent amplitude balance, phase balance, and common mode rejection better than 25 dB across the band.
