The WaveMon RF-60, the personal monitor of Wavecontrol's WaveMon family range, is a key element in the safety of workers in telecommunication towers and other RF, energy and industrial infrastructure. The WaveMon RF-60 alerts users of high-frequency electromagnetic fields up to 60 GHz including next-generation 5G networks worldwide.
This WaveMon RF-60 EMF meter can trigger an E-field overexposure alarm according to the international limits, with a new feature including the limits not only for workers but also for the general public in the standards ICNIRP, FCC and EU Directive 2013/35.
The design of the new WaveMon presents substantial upgrades from previous WaveMon models, such as a battery level display with blue LEDs and increased charging efficiency through the USB port.
The WaveMon family
The WaveMon personal monitors family has received several awards for innovation, design and safety (Delta Adi-FAD 2018, ARCoP 2019 and SICUR 2018), and has a number of features that make WaveMon a unique device in the market - GPS and altimeter for mapping log measurements, long battery life and a compact design that allows it to be lightweight and easily carried on the arm, belt or harness.
The WaveMon RF can trigger different alarms depending on whether they record instantaneous or average values and it is the isotropic RF Personal Monitor with the highest immunity in the market at 50/60 Hz.

The WaveMon RF-60 is a radio frequency exposure meter, with an embedded datalogger for continuous data recording. Download data and effortlessly create reports by simply connecting to the device's USB communication output port. The WaveMon RF personal monitor allows you to download records of your exposure data for your safety.
Practicality
Wavecontrol has created the WaveMon RF-60 with convenience in mind. This RF personal monitor can be attached and fastened to the user's harness, belt or arm via a clip-on holder, making it easier to measure sources of radiation at a distance.
GPS and Altimeter
The WaveMon is the only RF personal monitor equipped with a GPS and Altimeter for the geolocation of measurements. As an example, in a telecommunication tower, the GPS will provide the geographical position of the tower and the Altimeter the relative height from the ground. Thus, the radio frequency monitor will record your exposure level together with the date, time, geographical position and height on the tower, allowing you to perfectly locate hotspots.
Alarms on instant and average values
The WaveMon is the only personal RF monitor that can give alarms for average value and instantaneous value at the same time. Over-exposure alarms can be configured from a PC with all their parameters. Two different alarms can be programmed and personalised separately. The following basic parameters can be personalised:
- Value type (generated by instantaneous or average value)
- Alarm level (% of limit)
- Type of alarm (sound, vibration or both)
Low-frequency immunity
Experience shows that personal RF monitors with poor immunity to low frequencies give false alarms near high-voltage lines or other types of powerful electric equipment.
The WaveMon RF-60 personal monitor provides longer immunity and can work in electric field intensity conditions of up to 30 kV/m at 50/60 Hz without giving false readings of non-existent RF levels.
RF Absorption
When the WaveMon RF-60 personal monitor is worn on the body, reflections of electromagnetic fields from the body itself can affect the measurement and compromise its accuracy. The holder for the WaveMon includes an RF absorbent material to reduce that effect. When the device is in the holder, next to the body, the absorbent material is placed strategically between the sensor and the body, but when it is used away from the body, outside the holder, that material is not present and the WaveMon gives an undisturbed isotropic behaviour.
