Acomplete standalone GPS smart antenna module, including embedded patch antenna and GPS receiver circuit
The LOCOSYS LS2003D is a complete standalone GPS smart antenna module, which includes an embedded patch antenna and GPS receiver circuit. The module's functionality uses a MediaTek All-in-One GPS chip (MT3339) and is capable of acquiring many satellites at any one time. This module provides a fast time-to-first-fix and low power consumption. Ideal for providing superior sensitivity and performance even in urban areas and dense foliage environments.
This module supports hybrid ephemeris prediction to achieve a faster cold start. A self-generated ephemeris prediction (called EASYTM) requires no need for network assistance or host CPU intervention. This is valid for up to 3 days and updates automatically from time to time when the GPS module is powered on and satellites are available. A server-generated ephemeris prediction (called EPO) is achieved using an internet server. This is valid for up to 14 days. Both ephemeris predictions are stored in the on-board flash memory and perform a cold start time in less than 15 seconds.
This module is easy to install without an RF connector and coaxial cable that are needed in separate GPS active antennas. Designed to reduce cost and size, this can help speed up time to market by eliminating R&D efforts on RF matching and stability between separate GPS antennas and modules. This module can be directly powered by a lithium battery without any external voltage regulars. Therefore, LS2003D is an excellent choice for small, slim devices.
