New Holt HI-35981 Enhanced Octal ARINC 429 Receiver - APC Technology Group

Holt releases HI-35981 8-Channel ARINC 429 Line Receiver - The Newest Addition to the HI-35980 Family

Holt HI-35981 Enhanced Octal ARINC 429 Line Receiver with Label Recognition and SPI Bus Interface

Holt Integrated Circuits have announced the release of the HI-359818-Channel ARINC 429 Line Receiver, derived from Holt’s well-established HI-35980 (HI-3598) family.

The HI-35981 provides additional features and functionality, with user-programmable label filtering capability expanded from 16 labels to all 256 labels, and the 4-word deep receive FIFO has increased to 32 words deep. In addition, a 32-word deep transmit FIFO has been added, significantly increasing the transmit capability from the single-word buffer on the existing device.  Each receive channel has an integrated line receiver, enabling direct connection to an ARINC 429 bus.

Other features include the ability to switch the bit-significance of the ARINC 429 label and to recognize the 32nd received ARINC bit as either data or a parity flag. The SPI and all control signals are CMOS and TTL compatible and support 3.3V or 5V operation.

With the HI-35981 the user is able to utilise the built-in input resistor on each channel or use an external resistor to provide additional flexibility for external lightning protection.

The digital transmit channel also features a digital output pin to set the data rate on an external line driver, such as Holt’s lightning-protected HI-8597 or galvanically isolated HI-8598.

The Holt HI-35981 8-channel ARINC 429 line receiver is available in industrial −40°C to +85°C and extended −55°C to +125°C temperature ranges with optional burn-in at the higher temperature.

“This enhanced device provides our customers with additional functionality and flexibility for data management in ARINC 429 networks. The integration of 8 receive channels in a single compact IC greatly reduces customer component count, size and cost.”

George Noh, Director of Sales and Marketing at Holt Integrated Circuits
