Coming Soon: Meinberg's microSyncTRX250 - The Integrated Synchronisation Solution with a Focus on Redundancy

The microSyncTRX250 is an integrated GNSS-synchronised PTP and NTP server designed for environments where redundancy is key, and aims to reduce operational disruption, compliance breaches, and safety risks.

Accurate and resilient time synchronisation underpins modern digital infrastructure. In environments where uptime, determinism, and auditability are essential (such as aerospace, defence, critical national infrastructure, telecommunications, energy, and financial services), loss of trusted timing can cause operational disruption, compliance breaches, or even safety risks.

An integrated GNSS-synchronised PTP and NTP server designed specifically for redundancy addresses these risks directly. It's ability to combine high-precision satellite-derived timing with dual protocol distribution, will help to ensure continuity and integrity even under adverse conditions.

Coming Soon: microSyncTRX250

Time synchronisation specialists, Meinberg have recently announced the ongoing development of the latest system in its microSync family of integrated synchronisation solutions. The microSyncTRX250. With six network interfaces, four of which are fully PTP-capable for operation in master or slave mode, the microSync TRX250 is Meinberg's first all-in-one time server to provide full PRP capability.

The four PTP-capable interfaces allow for PRP-compliant communication with both an upstream grandmaster and downstream clocks - the Slave instance connected to its Master is connected as a Dual Attached Node (DAN) to two of the interfaces, while the Master instance serving downstream Slave clocks also has redundant links using the other two PTP-capable interfaces. The remaining two network interfaces are available for management and NTP access and also provide PRP support.

The microSync TRX250 also offers redundancy in several other ways; the modular power supply architecture of the system supports redundant power supply modules, with support for a variety of AC and DC supply voltages. The Multi-Reference Source functionality of the microSync server allows highly configurable failover from a primary reference source to an alternate reference signal, for example from an external PTP master to a GNSS reference to allow the device to take over as Grandmaster while continuing to deliver high accuracy.

Powered by meinbergOS

Powered by Meinberg's leading synchronisation-centric meinbergOS operating system, the microSync TRX250 offers up the same security and flexibility that the microSync family is known for. In addition to powerful redundancy-centric features such as PBP, meinbergOS also offers industry-grade networking features such as LDAP, TACACS+, and RADIUS authentication, industry-specific network functionality such as IEC 61850 MMS support, detailed analysis features for GNSS reception and clock performance, and a fully integrated version of Meinberg's PTP monitoring solution, PTP Track Hound.

Timing as Infrastructure, not Utility

In high-reliability sectors, timing should not be viewed as a background utility. It is core infrastructure. An integrated GNSS-synchronised PTP and NTP server designed for redundancy transforms timing from a potential point of failure into a strategic asset and ensures continuity, protects mission integrity, and enables next-generation network architectures.

For organisations operating in aerospace, defence, telecommunications, or critical infrastructure, investment in resilient timing is not merely technical - it is operationally strategic. With a heritage in supporting UK organisations with the latest precision time solutions, APC's own team of time synchronisation experts work closely with customers and Meinberg to design and integrate reliable network timing solutions that are scalable and secure.
