Kybernion - A New Technology Platform for GNSS Timing Applications From Meinberg

Kybernion symbolises Meinberg's unparalleled vertical integration in the field of GNSS synchronisation - every element in the synchronisation chain, from antennas to inline amplifiers, is precision-engineered for maximum performance in timing and synchronisation applications.
Meinberg is pleased to announce Kybernion, a new GNSS technology platform that marks the start of a new era for Meinberg. Focused on Meinberg's GNSS technology (Antennas, Amplifiers and other GNSS products in development), launch support covers the GNMANTv2, the GPSANTv2 and two new in-line amplifiers, the INA-20 and INA-30.
The INA-20 and INA-30 are designed for use with the GNMANTv2 antenna and any other third party GNSS antenna system.
The INA-20 and INA-30 are 20db and 30db amplifiers respectively and can be chained together to allow for extremely long cable runs. The 30db amplifiers with the GNMANTv2 can extend the cable run by approximately 60m (when used with Speedfoam 240HFJ 50Ohm antenna cable or Belden H155)
The 20db can also be chained at the end of a 30db run to prevent flooding of the receiver that might occur with a 30db amplifier, or when the cable run is shorter than 30m.








Kybernion is currently being developed to support the new Meinberg feature mbgARC, a bidirectional communication framework for antennas which will allow a compatible system to poll for direct information from the antenna.


Such information can include local operating temperatures and current operating voltage as well as other advanced information from the antennas local microcontroller.
The communication is passed through the coaxial cable that connects the receiver to the antenna, reducing the need for a separate data connection, and is overlaid with the GNSS signals without disruption to the reference source.
Currently, all Meinberg GPS, GNS-UC, GNS and GXL receivers, with the GPSANTv2 and GNMANTv2 antennas, support mbgARC already.
This includes the IMS series, the M series and standalone GPS and GNS reference clocks.
The new INA-20 and INA-30 series of amplifiers also support mbgARC.
