Bird Technologies, a global leader in RF power measurement solutions, has released the 4480A Wattmeter. Building on decades of experience with element-based wattmeters, Bird’s new 4480A Wattmeter is a groundbreaking step forward in RF power measurement. Featuring an element-free design, this wattmeter significantly reduces maintenance and operating costs while offering unprecedented ±4% accuracy for both Continuous Wave (CW) and digitally modulated signals.

The 4480A true average wattmeter covers a wide frequency range from 2 MHz to 1000 MHz and can measure power levels up to 10,000 watts in the HF band and up to 1,000 watts in UHF and VHF ranges. This versatility makes it the ideal solution for critical applications in sectors such as defence, public safety, aviation, land mobile radio, marine, and many other industries where wireless communications play a critical role.

The 4480A’s robust enclosure meets military requirements, ensuring reliability in the most challenging conditions. The new 4480A is capable of measuring incident and reflective power levels in watts for frequency ranges:

  • Wide frequency range, covering 2 MHz to 30 MHz and 25 MHz to 1000 MHz
  • MIL-PRF-28800 Class 3 - robust and maintains accuracy under temperature exptrremes, humidity, vibration, shock and electromagnetic interference
  • Versatile signal measurement - capable of handling both digital and CW signals, making it an essential tool for modern communication needs in diverse commercial applications
  • Eliminates the need for frequency-specific elements, simplifying setup and reducing potential user error
