Radiation detection systems from ELSE NUCLEAR now available from APC Technology Group
APC’s distribution agreement with ELSE NUCLEAR will provide customers in the UK and Ireland with access to reliable instrumentation and tailor-made solutions for environmental monitoring and radiation protection.
With a long and successful history dating back to 1990, ELSE NUCLEAR is regarded as one of the world’s leading manufacturers of radiation detectors and environmental monitoring systems. The signing of a distribution agreement with APC Technology Group means organisations operating in the Nuclear, Medical and Research sectors can access a range of products and systems already in use in more than 40 countries world-wide.
Experts in Radiation Scanning Systems
ELSE NUCLEAR has developed a deep understanding in relation to the decommissioning of nuclear power plants. This led the company to design and manufacture different solutions for radioactive waste characterisation, which find their main application in nuclear power plants, sites being decommissioned, hospitals, and wherever there is a need for waste clearance before free release.
The EASYSCAN mobile station is a robust and handy system designed to perform an easy, fast and reliable spectrometric analysis of radioactive material contained in drums, where the fine spectroscopy provided by HPGe-based systems is not needed.
Class-leading Spectrometry Systems
Having worked closely with universities and international research centres, a highly specialised range of spectrometry systems for gamma and neutron radiation measurement is also available via APC. Solutions include the B-RAD hand-held radio-isotope identifier (RIID) which is capable of providing the photon spectra in the presence of strong electromagnetic fields. Light and compact, B-RAD is ideal for radiation surveys and for local measurements of contamination or residual radioactivity in hot spots. It also includes a Hall probe connected to an indicator for a rough measurement of the magnetic field in which it is operating.
Also available is the SP2 single-sphere neutron spectrometer. This unique device allows users to perform active neutron spectrometry measurements by employing a single instrument instead of the usual multi-sphere BSS.
A Comprehensive Range of Radiation Monitoring and Scanning Systems
APC’s specialist test team will be able to advise and support customers on ELSE NUCLEAR’s complete portfolio of solutions:
Radiation Monitoring Systems
- Reliable devices for accurate, real-time measurement of radiation levels in nuclear sites and research facilities, including dedicated solutions for pulsed radiation fields
Scanning Systems
- Suitable for characterising and monitoring waste from nuclear-related sites (power plants, hospitals etc…)
Liquid and Gas Effluent Monitors
- Ideal for sampling and monitoring liquid and gaseous effluents, and measuring their level of contamination before release
Radiation portal monitors
- For automatic scanning of vehicles, pedestrians or materials, reporting the level of radioactivity and providing alarm warnings if a pre-set threshold is breached.
In-vivo Counting Systems
- Developed to perform high-efficiency, reliable scanning of individuals at nuclear power plants, research facilities, and anywhere an in-vivo monitoring of individuals is required
Speaking of the new partnership, Giuliano Mini, Business Development Manager of ELSE NUCLEAR, commented:
