Faraday Cages & RFI/EMI Shielded Chambers

Design for EMC Compliance Testing, Data Security and Privacy, Defence and Forensic Applications.

APC’s specialist team is here to support product designers and engineers to overcome unintentional EMC issues. Often resulting in unwanted effects such as electromagnetic interference (EMI) or even physical damage in operational equipment, our team offer a range of EMC testing solutions from some of the world’s leading manufacturers.

What is a Shielded Chamber?

An RFI/EMI (Radio Frequency Interference / Electromagnetic Interference) Shielded Chamber is an enclosed room or chamber designed to prevent the entry or exit of electromagnetic radiation, particularly radio frequency signals. These chambers are typically used in various applications where the presence of RFI/EMI could be problematic or dangerous, including electronics manufacturing, research and development.

The chamber is designed with a metallic shield around the walls, ceiling and floor, which is typically made of copper or other conductive material. The shield is designed to block the entry or exit of electromagnetic radiation, preventing it from interfering with sensitive electronic equipment or devices. The shield typically provides a high degree of attenuation for electromagnetic waves over a wide range of frequencies.

The chamber is also designed to provide a controlled environment, where external noise and interference are minimised. This is achieved through carefully designing the chamber’s structure and using specialised materials to absorb or attenuate electromagnetic waves.
